Canine Developmental Stages
Learning what to expect as your puppy grows is a great tool to use when training. It is much easier to work with your dog's growing brain and take advantage of critical developmental periods than have to train out bad behaviors later on.

Canine Nutrition
I love this website because you can read about the nutritional quality of the food you are feeding your dog. A lot of dog food companies will add artificial coloring (which is carcinogenic) and fillers to their food that will make your  dog feel full without giving them many nutrients. This would be like us eating popcorn for every meal versus steak and potatoes. Also with lesser quality dog foods you have to feed more of it (3-4 cups) to get the same nutrients as a higher quality dog food (1/2 - 2 cups).  I always say that it is a LOT more cost effective to spend a few extra dollars on a high quality dog food than pay for pricey veterianry bills later on to treat diseases that could have been prevented with an appropriate diet. And even though you may pay more for the higher quality dog food, you don't have to feed as much of it! The more nutrients in the food= the more nutrients your dog's body uses= less filler material is wasted= less poop to pick up! Yay! Everybody wins. :-)

Crate Training
Crate training your dog is not something that is "cruel" or like keeping your dog in a cage. Instead it can be a great training tool in aiding potty training. You must also remember that dogs are denning animals; in the wild they would sleep in dens or caves where they would feel safe. Giving your dog a crate is like giving them their own bedroom where they can escape to to sleep and feel safe if something scares them (like guests coming over). When successfully trained, your dog will love it's new bedroom.
